A great school district can only be built on a strong foundation. In Oceanside, we are fortunate to have a community that values education and a staff that is second to none. The way we look at it, student learning and well-being is everybody’s job, not just the classroom teacher’s.
The Oceanside School District is a forerunner in encouraging teachers to pursue National Board Certification, the teaching profession’s gold standard. As a result, we have one of the highest numbers of NBCTs on Long Island. Many of our teachers and administrators are sought-after experts in their fields and have led our district to win numerous accolades.
Behind the scenes, the unsung heroes are our clerical staff, our buildings and grounds crew, our security monitors, food service workers and more. They keep our schools running and make sure they are clean, well-maintained and orderly.
Our stringent hiring standards have helped us to build a top-notch staff and some of our best people support the operations of our Department of Community Activities. There are many programs for children and adults of all ages. DOCA also offers the summer playground program as well as holiday themed events throughout the year.
